About Home In History
Welcome to Home in History, a small business located in Carver, Massachusetts. Colleen Keegan operates this small cottage shop making clothing, accessories and everyday items for you and your home using fiber arts.
Meet Colleen: raised in New England, with a deep love for history, fiber arts and home arts. She has been sewing since she was 5, knitting since she was 10, and learned tatting, nailbinding, weaving and spinning in her 20s. She practices over 15 historic home arts, including sewing, gardening, cooking and baking and those arts have inspired the products you see in the shop from the kitchen and garden aprons to the homespun yarns and hand knit hats.
Taught how the home arts by her mother, and aunt allowing her love of the home arts to grow. Since then she has taken classes, read books and grown her knowledge by trial and error.
In her spare time she loves to travel, she has been to 40 of the 50 states, 4 Canadian Providences and 3 European countries with plans to visit more. Her travels have allowed her to learn more about the fiber arts, home arts and explore her heritage.
Home in History recognize that the fashion industry has one of the largest waste problems and strives to keep waste to a minimum by cutting to reduce waste and reusing remnants in other ways.
